OUTDOOR LEARNING

Studies have shown that pre-school education conducted outdoors, rather than mainly indoor play, is more effective at promoting children’s emotional well-being and confidence, attention and concentration skills, and their language and communication skills.  It naturally helps children’s physical well-being and health,  balance and co-ordination, as well as their problem solving skills.

The pre-school has a large secure outdoor area in which we provide a variety of resources to enhance a wide range of skills.  We also have access to the local park, forest and community space which we make use of to enhance and improve our children's early years education.  We encourage the children to extend their play outside everyday and make the most of the space while developing their physical abilities, co-ordination and balance. In the outdoor environment the children also have opportunities to develop their awareness of the weather through experiencing different conditions and their knowledge of insects and plants.
